The Mowell filter uses a mechanical filtration system to capture microorganisms within compatible respiratory circuits. It offers a specified 99.9999% bacterial and viral retention, helping support hygienic respiratory care practices when used according to the applicable clinical protocol.

Heat and Moisture Exchange Function

The device combines filtration with an HME function. During operation, the filter helps retain heat and moisture from exhaled respiratory gases and assists in returning them during inhalation.

The specified humidity output is 33.6 mg H₂O/L, supporting moisture management within compatible respiratory circuits.

Designed for Efficient Airflow

The filter has a specified airflow resistance of less than 0.2 kPa at 30 L/min. This helps maintain airflow through the device within its specified operating conditions.

Tidal Volume Compatibility

The Mowell Bacteria & Viral Filter is specified for tidal volumes ranging from 250 mL to 1250 mL. A pediatric version is also available with a lower weight of 21.4 g, compared with 31.75 g for the standard version.
